If you prefer a more gentle method, you can try the Pantley Pull Off, developed by Elizabeth Pantley. Even Pantley was too much for our kid so we did an even gentler, slower version. I've been doing PPO for a while now. I breast feed to sleep, and most of the time I can unlatch without problem. But after a few days he began to wake up again within minutes of falling asleep.
