RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – The University Transportation Center for Railway Safety (UTCRS) rode into the world of STEM and transportation at its sixth annual summer camp for area elementary school students. Individuals who enter their freshman year in 2020 will also be eligible to participate. Camp opportunities are offered in both Newark, DE and Tacoma, WA during the summer months. Parents/guardians need to fill out one form for each child participating in the 2020 Railway Safety Summer Camp. A permit is issued only when the camp is in compliance with the state's health regulations. The program is open to high school boys and girls who are currently freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors (class of 2020). While day camps will still be able to operate this summer, State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said it’s too risky to have children in close quarters at sleepaway camps.
