The most evident difference between the Primaris and normal marines is their difference in height, with the Primaris marine standing a head or two taller than the marines we have had for years (they are very similar in size to the newer plastic Custodes, in fact). In addition, the Primaris torso has a higher depth. Primaris Marines don't get to select from a variety of equipment loadouts, but the equipment they do carry is designed by Cawl, who is shockingly competent, so they usually outgun their non-Primaris equivalents who tried to choose an otherwise identical loadout; this forces them to depend on other units to support them to fill in any gaps (much like Eldar Aspect Warriors). This would lead you to believe that, as a whole, the Primaris Marines are a lot larger than their predecessors.
Both the belly and the breast are longer, while the width is only slightly extended. They are also, supposedly, mentally stronger and more resistant to the pull of Chaos. The Primaris Marines are larger, stronger, faster and wield better arms and armour than their older brethren. Currently I want to buy a starter box but of course they always have Marines as one of the factions, and those marines are now Primaris.
These pertained to how these new units, with new roles and sizes, fit into the current, rather strict structure of a Space Marine Chapter.
The above pics show that the upper body grew quite a bit from normal to Primaris Marine. Repulsor as transport for normal marines.
Essentially yes.
Each MK X GRAVIS model takes up the space of 2 other models.
- posted in + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS +: Well I finally decided to start a small loyalist force trying for a Primaris Black Templar force.
The lack of weapon options doesn't allow us to reflect chapter doctrine (i.e running flamers in all vehicle mounted squads to help clear buildings) The old upper body from belt to shoulders measures roughly 1.0cm, while the Primaris is 1.2-1.3cm, so ~25% growth, matching the increase, we have in the lower body. Using Primaris Marines as regular marines? Where are the melee weapons jet packed primaris? Generally Im a bit disappointed in the plain looking (and very limited) close combat weapons on some of the characters so was hoping to convert my own. Going to see if I can hunt down an old 7th edition one maybe. It cannot transport JUMP PACK models. In fact, regular marines are no longer even mentioned most of the time. Now normal space marines have assault units which usually contain melee weapons.
Transport: This model can transport 10 CHAPTER PRIMARIS INFANTRY models. Whereas with the normal marines I can use full models or bits as I see fit. While I am super hyped for the new models, I'm not a fan of how their rules are being handled. So I'm using 4x5 intercessors, 2x5 hellblasters, 2x3 inceptors, the 2 lietenants, the ancient, the captain, and then my sicaran venator, contemptor mortis dreadnoughts, and … I'm using the primaris on their own, but incorporating 30k marine support vehicles to fill in the gaps. The introduction of Primaris Marines into the existing Chapters gave rise to several new questions. Update make it more clear maybe. So I would like to maybe kitbash some terminators as aggressors because I really don't like the idea of using primaris with my normal marine, what's people's thoughts on this? You’d think that a Watch Captain might have access to different gear than a normal captain–but either way, it still means that you can fill out your HQ slots with Primaris Marines. Normal marine arms on Primaris ? Primaris have been pushed by GW so hard, you'd be right to think that they are the best. I know that there has to be some value to normal space marines but how am I meant to make my assault based chapter (Blood Angels) primaris used? Also what about kitbashed intercessors form tactical squads?
